*) In French when you are agreed on something it is replied by "Oui" which
means Yes in English and if you are not agreed then it is replied by "Non"
which means No in English.
*) How the sentences are framed while asking questions e.g want to as the
profession of the person that is he advocate.
1) Vous etes le avocate? >> You are the lawyer.
(Voo zet le avocaat.)
2) Est ce-que vous etes le avocate? >> Is-that you are the lawyer?
(Esk voos zet le avocaat.)
3) Qu'est ce que vous etes le avocate? >> WHAT are you the lawyer?
( Kesk voos zet le avocaat.)
*) If you want to give answer simply in Yes or No,then form the question by
using est-
Est- ce que?
a) Est-ce-que tu anglais?(-Is that english) ---- Oui.
(eskk tu onglaee.) (ouee)
b) Est-ce-que Vous etes l'avocate?(Is that- you are the lawyer) ----- Non
(Esk vooz zet lavocat) ( No)
c) Est-ce-que tu vas au banque?(Are you going to bank?) ----- Oui
(Esk tu va o bonc) (Yes)
2) You can also form a yes-no question simply by keeping the same words as
in the equivalent affirmative sentence but by saying the final syllable on a
rising pitch:
a) tu as anglais?(You english) ------ Oui,je suis anglais.(Yes,i'm English)
(tu a onglee) (ouee,je suee onglee)
(No,i'm the architect)
b) Vous etes l'avocate?(You're the lawyer) ------ Non,je suis l'architect
(vooz zet lavocate) (non,je suee lashee tect)
c) tu vas au banque?(You go to the bank?) ----- Oui,je vais au banque.(Yes...)
(tu va o bonc) (ouee,je vae o banc)
3) The construction qu'est que is also a very common way of asking what...
questions but the only difference here we want to know the answer
more than yes or no.
